Travis Golf Club

Golf Course
Carving an 18-hole championship golf course out of over 400,000 cubic yards of solid rock in just 120 days through precision hammering and deep collaboration.

Project Details

The Travis Club project involved the construction of an 18-hole Beau Welling–designed golf course along the rocky terrain of Lake Travis, located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Austin, Texas. The site presented an extraordinary challenge, requiring more than 400,000 cubic yards of solid rock to be hammered and shaped into a playable golf course environment—often within a tolerance of just six inches. Unlike many projects where blasting is permitted, much of this site required precision hammering to carefully manage rock size and maintain the integrity of the course design. The team completed the rough shaping of the course in less than 120 days, transforming unforgiving terrain into a refined and playable landscape. Since 1998, the company has specialized in constructing golf courses across diverse and extreme environments—from rock formations to swamps and quicksand in Florida. The Travis Club project stands out as a defining example of that expertise. Equally important to the technical achievement was the collaborative process. The close partnership between the owner, golf course architect, engineers, and construction team allowed for continuous problem-solving and design refinement throughout the build. This unified approach resulted in a course that not only overcame geological challenges but delivered a visually striking and functional golf experience.
